This week I sent what I thought was a fairly harmless email to my list, and this is what came back!
“A day or two ago I received an email from you that used vulgar language in the subject line. If that sort of email continues, I will be forced to unsubscribe and/or block your messages”.
Slap my wrist with a limp noodle!
So what was the offending subject line?
Shield your eyes if you’re a nun or have lived a very sheltered life!
Here it is: “This sucks, but not for much longer!”
An email about my Debt Freedom Plan! And yes, I do think it sucks to have debt stop you living the life you dream of! There, I said it again!
I received 10 emails in response to my email. Nine of them said things like: it made me laugh, thank you for doing what you do, sounds great!
But of course, it’s easier to focus on that one.
So, what did I do?
I was tempted to email the writer and ask her where her mind was at! But no, my better judgement stopped me.
Instead, I unsubscribed her!
Horrors! Don’t I know subscribers rule?
Well actually, no!
The whole point of writing a newsletter is for me to be ME, and to attract those who resonate and get value from what I write and what I offer. Subscribing to a newsletter or blog is all about giving it a go. An adventure: is this person someone I enjoy reading? Do they raise me up in some way? Do they give me something I’m looking for, do they support me to expand my life and be ME? Perhaps even, do they entertain me? You try it out and stay, or continue your search elsewhere.
Let me just say, I do highly value my subscribers, and imagine if I wrote trying to make each of you happy! B-O-R-I-N-G! I’m just like you, trying to find my voice - and if I can write as I talk, as ME, then you have some chance of getting the ‘real’ me. And as a Feng Shui Coach, being surrounded by people and things that are in alignment with who you are and where you’re going, is what I dream of for you.
Just for the record, there are very few thing I think suck! ’Suck’ as in providing a less than optimal environment for our flourishing! Debt sucks majorly, and Vancouver winters come second. There is something you can do about both of these. Take my Debt Freedom Plan and eliminate one, and moving to Bali, Thailand, Ecuador or New Zealand for 4-5 months in winter will handle the other. Yay!
If you’re one of my tribe, I so appreciate you allowing me to support you.
What do you think? Vulgar, or spirited?
